The 13th China Internet Audio-Visual Conference's Forum on High-Quality Development of Micro-Short Dramas was held in Beijing on the 15th, during which the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Administration officially launched the 2026 Second Beijing Big Audio-Visual "Luminary Plan" International Micro-Short Drama Competition.
Compared to the first edition, the most significant change of this competition is the upgrade in positioning - transitioning from a simple competition to a full-chain service system, aiming to establish a complete closed loop that connects creative incubation, production, promotion, and international dissemination. In terms of competition tracks, the event closely follows social concerns and industry trends, launching six thematic tracks to stimulate public creativity by providing specialized creative spaces, promoting micro-short dramas to reach cultural excellence.
The support for resources has also been strengthened. Last year, the Beijing Radio and Television Network Audio-Visual Development Fund supported 37 outstanding projects, with a total investment of 22.16 million yuan. The scale of support will be further expanded in 2026. The competition has established a city-district coordination mechanism, where winning projects can receive a maximum grant of 500,000 yuan, and will be precisely aligned with policies such as the "Ten Policies for Cultural Industries," offering matching support at a ratio of 1:0.5 for works receiving municipal special funds. Outstanding creators can participate in talent policies such as "Jing Langya" and "Xirong Talent," while young students can gain access to internship green channels at leading platforms. Platforms such as Hongguo Short Dramas and Hemama Theater will also provide assessment green channels for high-quality projects, prioritizing joint investment or promotional support.
In terms of technology, this competition further deepens the exploration of AIGC applications. While encouraging live-action works, it fully supports new forms of creation such as AI real-person micro-short dramas and AI animated series, emphasizing the collaborative innovation of "mechanism + AI tools + platform." At the same time, it insists on content quality and value orientation as the core criteria for evaluation.
In terms of international dissemination, the competition has built a lightweight channel for going global, supporting multilingual translation and overseas promotion through special funds, helping high-quality works with Chinese characteristics reach the world stage.
