The highly anticipated WWDC26 Worldwide Developers Conference is set to open on June 8. According to the latest information, Apple will release a new iOS27 system at that time, with its core highlights focusing on the deep integration of three groundbreaking AI photo editing features, aiming to reconstruct images in just a few seconds.
In the new photo application, Apple will introduce a dedicated menu called "Apple Intelligence Tools." The most attention-grabbing feature is the "Extend" function, which uses generative AI technology to automatically fill in background content beyond the edges of a photo.
Smart Features Redefine Images
Aside from the extension tool that can "imagine" the scene, the system also includes an "Enhance" feature. This tool can accurately identify and optimize image quality, intelligently adjusting the lighting balance and color saturation of photos.
For spatial images, Apple has developed the "Reframe" reframe tool. Users can freely switch viewing angles during post-editing, and this feature will greatly enhance the immersive experience and visual impact of spatial photos.
Challenges Remain During Testing
Although the functional concepts are highly attractive, the current development process does not seem to be smooth. Internal test data shows that due to the ongoing refinement of the underlying model, the stability of frame expansion and perspective reconfiguration still needs improvement.
Apple's team is currently working hard to optimize the algorithms to ensure that the final user experience meets the standards. If the technical performance does not meet expectations, some cutting-edge features may be delayed or released in a limited pilot phase initially.
