Mark Loehr, a seasoned e-commerce entrepreneur who sold his startup to Amazon and Walmart, is now focused on applying artificial intelligence technology to his new company Wonder. The company has launched a program called Wonder Create, designed to help anyone, whether a food entrepreneur or social media influencer, design and launch their own virtual restaurant brand in just one minute.

The operation model of Wonder Create is very simple. Users just need to input the type of restaurant they want to establish, and the AI system will quickly generate the restaurant's name, brand image, description, images, pricing, health information, and all recipes. Once users are satisfied with the initial results, they can launch their restaurant within Wonder's continuously expanding network of tech kitchens, which currently has 120 kitchens and is expected to increase to 400 next year.
Wonder's kitchens are called "programmable cooking platforms," capable of operating up to 25 different types of restaurants in fully electric kitchens with high automation. Loehr mentioned in recent activities that these kitchens are equipped with 700 ingredients and use advanced technologies such as conveyor belts and robotic arms to improve efficiency. The company also acquired the manufacturer of automated bowl-making machines, Spice Robotics, and plans to launch an "infinite sauce machine" to make sauces found in most online recipes.
This platform is not only suitable for entrepreneurs but also helps influencers connect with their audience through their restaurant brands, and can even be used for non-profit organizations or brand marketing. Loehr believes that anyone who wants to profit from social media can use this platform to start their own restaurant.
However, despite the promising prospects of this idea, it remains to be seen whether it can attract enough people to participate. Similar to the concept of Ghost Kitchen, it faced many challenges in the early stages, and Wonder's automation and AI technology may solve some problems, but its business model still needs verification. Loehr acknowledges that the team and robots still cannot complete certain complex cooking tasks, focusing instead on simpler dishes like burgers, chicken wings, and fast food bowls.
In addition, Wonder is actively acquiring restaurant brands. Recently, it acquired Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken in New York City for $6.5 million. Loehr said that rapidly expanding the influence of the brand is a key part of its business strategy.
