Technology media TechPowerUp recently conducted a survey on NVIDIA DLSS 5 technology among its readers, and the results showed that nearly 60% of players are against using AI to alter the visual effects of games. Among nearly 20,000 votes, as many as 58% of respondents chose "AI should not change the game," believing that visual elements such as lighting, materials, and character faces should not be altered by AI technology. The preference for original visuals was evident in this survey.

In contrast, only about 8% of participants believed that the visuals rendered by DLSS 5 were better than native rendering, while approximately 6% of respondents said they would only accept changes in visual effects if it significantly improved frame rates. This indicates that despite the rapid development of AI technology, many players still prefer traditional gaming experiences.
NVIDIA launched DLSS 5 in March this year, an real-time neural network rendering model designed to add more realistic lighting and material effects to game visuals. The company claims that this technology processes color data and motion vectors from the game, and the output remains consistent with the original game content. DLSS 5 is planned to be officially released this autumn and will likely be limited to users of GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards.
This survey reflects the complex attitudes of gamers toward the application of AI technology in games. Although new technologies have the potential to improve visual quality, players still place great importance on the original style and experience of the game itself. This trend may influence the direction of future game development, and game developers need to better understand player needs in order to find a balance between technological innovation and user experience.
