Artificial intelligence startup giant Anthropic PBC is currently in early discussions with investors, planning to raise at least $30 billion in a new round of financing. According to informed sources, the company, which developed the well-known Claude series of large models, is considering proceeding with the deal at a pre-money valuation exceeding $90 billion, which would not only be the largest fundraising to date for the company but could also set a new record for the valuation of global AI startups. This round of financing could be completed as early as late May, although final terms have not yet been signed, and the market has responded enthusiastically.

Anthropic, Claude, claude

Amid rising costs of global AI infrastructure, Anthropic is accelerating fundraising to cover significant computing costs and support its growing product demands. Previously, it was reported that the company may proceed with its initial public offering (IPO) as early as October. At the same time, Anthropic has recently received multiple proactive approaches from investors and has reached two key financing agreements with major technology companies.

Notably, industry leader OpenAI had a valuation of approximately $85 billion in March. If this round of financing for Anthropic proceeds at the expected valuation, its market position could rival or even surpass OpenAI in terms of valuation. This leap in valuation level reflects the high pricing placed by the market on top large model developers' technological breakthroughs and commercialization potential in the generative AI competition, while also indicating that industry resources will further concentrate among leading manufacturers with full-stack R&D capabilities.
