OpenAI announced a major update, officially integrating its powerful Codex model into the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android platforms. This move aims to provide global developers with more flexible working methods, allowing them to remotely manage and monitor coding tasks through their phones.
Currently, the weekly active users of the Codex model have exceeded 4 million, demonstrating high industry recognition. With this mobile integration, developers can break free from their desks and handle urgent code requests during fragmented time periods.

Enable seamless cross-device connection and real-time control of development status
In the new mobile interface, Codex acts as a remote control hub, supporting connections to multiple development environments. Whether it's a personal laptop, an independent Mac mini, or a cloud-hosted development server, stable connections can be achieved.
Once connected successfully, the mobile app will automatically load the current development state, including active task threads and project context. This real-time synchronization feature ensures that developers can keep track of overall progress on the mobile platform, maintaining work continuity.
Deeply manage workflows and ensure secure mobile interaction
This update is not just simple remote control but also features full workflow management capabilities, supporting viewing output results and approving commands. Developers can even initiate new tasks on their phones and receive real-time code differences, test results, and screenshots from the system.
To ensure communication security, OpenAI specially designed a layer of secure relay technology to prevent development environments from being exposed on the public internet. This feature has now been rolled out in stages in major app stores, initially supporting collaboration with the macOS desktop version.
