OpenAI has recently made significant personnel and business adjustments, with co-founder and president Greg Brockman officially taking charge of product strategy. According to reports, this personnel appointment is the implementation of an existing plan, aimed at further clarifying the division of responsibilities among the core management team.
Previously, CEO Fei Ji Simo was on medical leave for the general artificial intelligence implementation business, and Brockman had already taken over the company's product operations on an interim basis. This adjustment was jointly determined by Simo and Brockman, and Simo is still on medical leave.
Integrate Two Core Strengths to Build an Integrated AI Platform
In an internal memo to employees, Brockman revealed a major product plan, stating that the company plans to deeply integrate the chatbot ChatGPT with the code development tool Codex. This move aims to eliminate barriers between different products and provide global users with a seamless integrated experience.
By integrating product development resources, OpenAI will focus entirely on the key technology of agents. The company hopes to capture both the consumer and enterprise markets with this new ecosystem, reinforcing its leading position in the AI industry.
Return Focus to Core Strategies, Halt Peripheral Projects
In fact, the company had already planned to integrate ChatGPT, Codex, and application interfaces into a unified platform, and formed a dedicated core product team to manage it. These closely coordinated actions all serve the company's overall strategic shift.
Since CEO Sam Altman announced the company entered an "emergency adjustment period" at the end of last year, OpenAI has asked teams to refocus on core product experiences. Under this context, non-core projects such as the video generation model Sora and specialized research in the field of science have been suspended.
