The partners include the Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, the Road Network Monitoring and Emergency Response Center of the Ministry of Transport, and the Public Meteorological Service Center of the China Meteorological Administration. This move aims to create an all-day safety protection network for road travel.
This cooperation marks a deep integration between official authoritative system data and internet navigation platforms. Information on road closures from traffic management departments, minute-by-minute weather changes from meteorological departments, and highway congestion situations monitored by the road network center will be delivered in real-time and accurately to drivers on the road through Baidu Maps.
Prior Warning for Adverse Weather
Based on the massive national data accessed, the system will proactively identify and mark high-impact areas such as rain, snow, fog, and ice during the route planning stage. Navigation not only alerts users to potential travel risks in advance but also intelligently plans and provides safe alternative routes.
During actual driving, the system will dynamically assess the situation based on the vehicle's real-time location. Before the vehicle enters a section affected by adverse weather, the navigation will issue a voice warning in advance, reminding drivers to slow down or choose an alternative route.
Precise Identification of Long-Range Risks
In addition to dealing with complex weather changes, this version has significantly upgraded the dimensions of safety protection by introducing a long-range risk warning function. The system can finely identify more than 30 types of dynamic and static risks ahead, such as accidents, road construction, and sharp blind curves, effectively serving as a smart co-pilot that is always online.
Users do not need to perform any complicated additional settings; they just need to update their Baidu Maps app to the latest version. By enabling the navigation voice broadcast function during daily travel, users can automatically enjoy comprehensive weather and traffic safety protection supported by national data throughout their journey.
