Samsung Electronics recently announced that it will introduce ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to employees worldwide, marking a significant expansion of OpenAI in the enterprise AI field. According to the agreement, all Samsung Electronics employees in South Korea and those in the global Device Experience (DX) division can use these advanced AI tools.

Samsung Electronics plans to apply ChatGPT and Codex to multiple business processes, including R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and other corporate functions, to enhance employee productivity and problem-solving capabilities. The introduction of ChatGPT will help employees complete knowledge-based tasks more efficiently, such as information retrieval, analysis, document writing, creative development, and data interpretation. ChatGPT Enterprise offers enterprise-level features, ensuring organizations can protect data, manage users and access rights, and implement security controls while using AI safely and effectively. This allows Samsung Electronics employees to fully leverage advanced AI technology within the company's security policies and governance framework.

Codex was initially designed as a tool for software development, but its productivity benefits for non-technical teams have become increasingly evident as its application expands. Employees can use Codex to turn ideas into actual software, internal tools, websites, and automated workflows. Currently, over 5 million users use Codex each week for both technical and non-technical workflows, and active Codex users in South Korea have grown by nearly 800% since February 2026.

Kim Hee-sung, General Manager of OpenAI South Korea, said, "This historic deployment is especially important because Samsung Electronics, as a global leader in technology and manufacturing, is viewing AI as a core platform to enhance employee work and innovation, not just limited to certain teams or functions." OpenAI will also work closely with Samsung Electronics to help employees quickly turn ideas into action, solve complex problems, and develop new products and services while using ChatGPT and Codex.

Previously, Samsung Electronics and OpenAI had already begun collaboration in the global AI infrastructure field, with Samsung Electronics providing advanced memory semiconductors for the next generation of AI infrastructure. As ChatGPT Enterprise is adopted, the partnership between the two companies continues to expand, covering employee transformation and company-wide AI applications.

In South Korea, Seoul National University has recently provided free access to ChatGPT Edu for its 47,000 community members, including students and staff, to support its transition to an AI-native campus. Meanwhile, OpenAI has also partnered with Kakao, allowing users to ask ChatGPT questions directly in KakaoTalk group chats and receive responses, bringing ChatGPT into a widely used daily communication platform in South Korea.
