OpenAI recently announced the acquisition of the presentation startup NextSlide, with team members joining OpenAI and participating in the development of ChatGPT-related products. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. According to Ahmed Beshry, the founder of NextSlide, the acquisition actually took place earlier this year, which is why the related news was delayed for several months.

NextSlide previously focused on AI-powered presentation generation, with its products capable of converting prompts, notes, documents, or research findings into editable presentations. Beshry said the company's goal was to make visual communication more convenient, helping more people express their ideas clearly. After joining OpenAI, the team will continue in this direction, developing AI products that help users create, communicate, and turn ideas into real results.

This acquisition further reflects OpenAI's product strategy of expanding into productivity and content creation scenarios. As generative AI gradually moves from text-based Q&A to office tasks such as documents and presentations, AI assisting in the complete creative process is becoming an important application direction.

Beshry previously also served as co-founder of Caper AI, a startup specializing in smart shopping carts and unmanned checkout technology, which was acquired by Instacart for $350 million in 2021.
