Technology media Android Authority disclosed on August 17 that, after Google and Samsung, vivo will become the third smartphone manufacturer to support the "Scam Detection" (Scam Detection) feature. The media disassembled the Phone by Google app version 234.0.9 and found related information about vivo in the internal code characters of Google's project codename Sharpie.
AI for real-time scam blocking on the device, possibly limited to international versions
Scam Detection is a device-side AI security feature launched by Google for Android. It runs in the background during calls, using AI to identify typical scam phrases such as "requesting transfers, asking for gift cards or sensitive information," and alerts users in real time with sound, vibration, and screen notifications if it determines a high risk. This feature was first tested in the US on November 13, 2024, and is currently supported only by Pixel series and Samsung Galaxy S26 series.
It remains unclear which vivo models will implement this feature, and it may be limited to international versions after launch. The report speculated that the vivo X500 series may be among the first to adopt it, with the X300 series possibly following later. For vivo, integrating this native security capability helps it compete with Pixel and Samsung in terms of privacy features in overseas markets.
