Nate Parrott, a product designer at Anthropic, posted on the X platform on August 18th, officially announcing the upcoming integration of the new "/design" command in Claude Code. This feature aims to provide developers and technical teams with a more efficient interactive design and development experience.
In practical applications, developers can directly input the "/design" command in the terminal or desktop version of Claude Code before starting to write code, to create design models. For example, when a user inputs "/design a few options for {feature}", the system will automatically generate multiple visual drafts as canvases for users to choose from. Users can then select their most preferred draft, edit and refine it, and directly hand it over to the AI for construction.
On the underlying logic and operational mechanism, Claude can intelligently read existing code repositories, accurately match the current UI style of the project, and automatically create shareable prototypes as Artifacts. The previously independent editor and prompt functions of Claude Design are now deeply integrated with Claude Code, further breaking down the barriers between design and coding.
