Alexa+ from Amazon will be freely pushed to all compatible Fire TV devices in the United States, no longer requiring users to subscribe to Prime membership. This update will bring features such as conversational search, smart home control, and AI content recommendations to TV users, pushing generative AI further into the home entertainment scenario.
Previously, Alexa+ was available to a select group of new Fire TV device users, with a service fee of $19.99 per month for non-Prime members. Amazon stated that this upgrade does not require users to download an app or subscribe additionally, and all eligible devices will automatically receive the Alexa+ feature.

Supported devices include the current generation of Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember smart TVs, as well as third-party smart TV products with built-in Alexa+ functionality, such as models from brands like Hisense and Panasonic.
The addition of Alexa+ reflects the trend in the consumer electronics industry to promote the popularization of AI assistants. In recent years, Google has introduced Gemini on the Google TV platform, replacing traditional search experiences with AI conversation modes; Roku has also upgraded its voice assistant, introducing more AI capabilities. TV manufacturers are embedding AI features directly into users' daily usage scenarios through system-level updates.
Amazon stated that Alexa+ users on Fire TV have nearly twice the number of conversations as the original Alexa users, indicating that users are shifting from traditional content search to interacting with AI assistants. With Alexa+, users do not need to accurately input program names but can instead get recommendations based on criteria such as theme, era, rating, or character traits, for example, finding high-rated thrillers or historical dramas centered around female characters.
In addition, Alexa+ supports smart home management functions, allowing users to control connected devices via the TV and view Ring camera footage directly. As AI assistants gradually become a fundamental capability of smart terminals, TVs are evolving from simple video playback devices into platforms that integrate content services, home control, and intelligent interaction.
