Anthropic has officially announced a comprehensive update to the memory mechanism of its Claude, successfully breaking down the barriers between Claude Cowork and regular chat functions, achieving unified management of both.
Previously, users often needed to repeatedly input background information or historical preferences when interacting with AI in different scenarios. After this update, when Cowork independently performs complex tasks in the cloud, it can directly access the memory accumulated by Claude from user's daily chat records. Conversely, the relevant operational memory generated in Cowork can also be seamlessly reused in regular chat conversations. This bidirectional interoperability design allows the AI to more accurately continue previous work progress, significantly reducing the communication costs for users to repeatedly explain the context.
In terms of privacy and personalized control, Anthropic has adopted a cautious default strategy. Content deemed sensitive, such as health conditions and personal beliefs, will not be saved to the memory database by default. However, to meet the actual needs of some users who wish to avoid repeating explanations about specific sensitive topics, the platform also provides manual options. Users can flexibly adjust these settings according to their preferences in the "Memory" settings.
In terms of applicability, this memory mechanism upgrade covers a broader range of users and terminal devices. Whether it is the free (Free) version or paid Pro and Max plans, this memory function is enabled by default and supports web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
