As reported by Business Insider on August 27, NVIDIA is currently in deep discussions with the open-source AI platform Hugging Face regarding a potential acquisition valued at over $13 billion (approximately 87.592 billion Chinese yuan). If the deal is finalized, it would become one of NVIDIA's largest acquisitions in history.

Previously, Microsoft also had preliminary meetings with Hugging Face but did not proceed to in-depth negotiations. At the end of last year, Hugging Face rejected a $500 million investment from NVIDIA (at the time, the company was valued at around $7 billion), citing the reason of avoiding intervention by a dominant investor in the company's decisions.

As the "GitHub" of the AI world, Hugging Face hosts millions of models and datasets. In terms of commercialization, according to The Information's data this week, its annualized revenue grew by 50% within two months and exceeded $150 million, nearly doubling from $70 million in 2023 and $130 million in 2024. Based on a Freemium model, its paid conversion rate ranges from 3% to 5%, and it has accumulated over 2,000 enterprise customers.
