On August 27, Alibaba officially launched the new Qoder, upgrading the original AI programming IDE into an "intelligent agent workspace centered on coding capabilities and designed for everyone." Users only need to describe their goals in natural language, and Qoder will understand the context, make a plan, call tools, execute, and verify. The entire process can be viewed, adjusted, or taken over.
Over the past year, since the global release of Qoder IDE in August 2025, it has accumulated more than 6 million users and served over 100,000 enterprises. The new version is based on three major shifts in collaboration patterns: the work object has shifted from "code engineering" to "intelligent agent tasks," the work posture has shifted from "personal production" to "delegation and acceptance," and participants have expanded from professional programmers to a wide range of people including product, operations, and data professionals.
Technically, the new Qoder is powered by the Harness long-chain execution platform, supporting an autonomous closed-loop of "read—modify—verify—iterate," with capabilities such as cross-file editing, running tests, self-correction based on real results, cross-session long-term memory, and periodic refinement skills; security has introduced hierarchical permissions and a tool whitelist, with explicit authorization for sensitive operations. On the model side, it includes top-of-the-line models both domestically and internationally, deeply integrated with the Qwen series, and provides Auto intelligent routing to balance effect, speed, and cost.
The product offers two entry points: programming mode and general mode. The former is aimed at developers, while the latter allows non-technical users to create prototypes, manage data, and troubleshoot without touching code. Through 40+ connectors, 70+ plugins, and 20K+ skills, it connects code repositories, project management, cloud services, and internal systems, and supports Browser Use / Computer Use to interact with real web pages and desktops. The interface now includes a desktop resident feature and voice activation, shifting from "you drive it" to "it reminds you."
