This week, the autumn semester officially began for primary and secondary schools across the country, with a series of new adjustments for the compulsory education stage taking effect. The newly compiled textbooks for the three subjects, which had been piloted in phases starting from the autumn semester of 2024, have now been fully replaced nationwide for all primary and junior high schools. The new versions of the Chinese, Mathematics, and English textbooks have been officially implemented across the country.
Education experts interpret that, in terms of learning volume, the number of texts in the Chinese subject for grades one to six in primary school has been reduced compared to the previous version. In mathematics, the simple equations that were originally scheduled for the upper grades of elementary school have been moved to junior high school, with only practical content such as ruler and compass drawing added in the elementary school stage. The total vocabulary required for English has changed slightly, without increasing the burden of memorization. In terms of arrangement logic, the new textbooks for the three subjects are more in line with the cognitive laws of students at different ages, deliberately slowing down the pace of knowledge introduction to achieve quality improvement and reduced workload. According to calculations by the teaching research and development team, the overall difficulty of the new textbooks is basically balanced with the old version, and there will be no sudden increase in difficulty.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education and other departments previously issued regulations, "Artificial Intelligence + Education Action Plan" adheres to the principle of focusing on literacy. While adjusting the textbooks in primary and secondary schools, AI education has also begun to enter classrooms on a large scale.
