The construction of the Optimus humanoid robot production facility at Tesla's Texas Gigafactory has made new progress. Recent drone footage from X platform user Joe Tegtmeyer shows that the main steel structure of the factory is nearing the northern edge of the building, with only about five column grids remaining to the outer beam on the north side; the three-story structure above the factory is currently undergoing concrete pouring, and preparations for pouring are ongoing in other areas.
Tegtmeyer believes that the planned annual capacity of the Tesla Texas Optimus factory is 10 million units, and production is expected to start in late 2027. However, Tesla's Q2 2026 financial report shows that the Optimus factories in California and Texas are still under construction. At the same time, Tesla has stopped the production lines for Model S and Model X at the Fremont factory and plans to convert the relevant capacity into Optimus production lines.
From the current construction progress, the main structure of the factory is advancing rapidly, but there are still steps such as equipment installation and production line debugging before official operation. Whether Tesla can achieve large-scale Optimus mass production as planned still depends on the subsequent factory construction and production line deployment progress.
