Alibaba Group has appointed Liu Dayiheng, a senior AI researcher, as the head of the Qwen (Tongyi Qianwen) large language model team. This personnel change was revealed by two informed employees. Since the beginning of this year, the Qwen team has undergone multiple rounds of organizational restructuring, and Liu Dayiheng's appointment further clarifies the team's management structure, indicating that this core AI product line now has a clear leader.
The timing of this appointment is rather delicate. Alibaba's annual Cloud栖 Conference will open on Tuesday, and on the official website's list of speakers, Liu Dayiheng's personal portrait is placed in a very prominent position, right after the group chairman, Cai Xiangxin, and the CEO, Wu Yongming. The website explicitly labels his position as the head of the Qwen large language model project. Making a high-profile appearance under the spotlight of this annual technology event undoubtedly sets the stage for the new leader's debut.
