According to two informed employees, Alibaba Group has appointed Liu Dayiheng, a senior AI researcher, as the head of the Qwen (Tongyi Qianwen) large language model project. An insider said that this appointment came after multiple rounds of organizational restructuring within Alibaba earlier this year, further clarifying the management structure of the Qwen team.
Alibaba's annual Cloud Conference will open on Tuesday. The list of speakers published on the conference's official website shows that Liu Dayiheng's personal portrait is prominently displayed, second only to the group's chairman, Jack Ma, and CEO, Wu Yongming. The official website also clearly marks his position as "Head of the Qwen Large Language Model Project."
This personnel arrangement indicates that after previous rounds of organizational adjustments, the person in charge of the core model business of Qwen has been further clarified, reflecting Alibaba's ongoing efforts to strengthen the organizational structure and management system of the Tongyi Qianwen team.
