According to Bloomberg, Apple has delayed a project for an AI wearable pendant with a camera. The device was originally planned to be worn as a necklace and could also be attached to clothing or other parts of the body, continuously collecting visual data through the camera and sending it to the next-generation Siri AI assistant for processing.
Apple was previously reported to be exploring various AI wearable forms. The Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, released in September 2026, have already incorporated features such as the Siri AI and "audio intelligence," and are seen as key products in Apple's AI wearable strategy. However, the AI pendant, which was originally planned as a "constant-on iPhone camera," has now been put on hold. Previously, it was reported that the device would also include a microphone for Siri interactions.
After the pendant project was put on hold, Apple is now focusing on enhancing the AI capabilities of the Apple Watch and plans to launch new models of AirPods with cameras and smart glasses, which are expected to be available in 2027. In addition, Apple is exploring a wearable device centered around health management with a screenless design, possibly competing with products like WHOOP.
Overall, Apple's AI hardware strategy is shifting from exploring independent AI devices to focusing on existing ecosystem devices, gradually expanding AI interaction scenarios in areas such as vision, voice, and health.
