On September 24, Tencent Marvis released a new version, officially upgrading its positioning from "AI assistant" to "AI concierge." Focused on four core capabilities: computer, files, browser, and software, it helps users manage personal devices and digital assets, and disclosed progress in hardware ecosystem collaborations such as NAS and information technology innovation.
This upgrade stems from real user needs. At a media briefing on September 20, the Marvis team mentioned that about 40,000 users use Marvis daily to install software, clean the C drive, organize files, and manage startup items. "Concierge" has become the way users understand and use Marvis.
From completing tasks to continuously managing personal devices and digital assets
Compared to agents focused on office task delivery, Marvis places emphasis on the continuous management of personal devices and digital assets. Document creation and PPT production are still areas it can handle, but the core focus is managing the user's devices, along with files, software, and browser services. The new sidebar now includes a "Concierge Team" entry, showcasing the four concierge capabilities and scenarios, so users know who to turn to when problems arise.
Computer concierge covers intelligent cleaning, fault repair, setting modification, hardware inspection, and performance optimization. It integrates the knowledge base of the Tencent enterprise IT team's maintenance experience, offering over 100 quick commands. According to the team, the completion rate of computer concierge tasks is about 92%. During the demonstration, Marvis could optimize startup items, check battery health, and adjust high-energy-consuming applications; when system permissions are involved, user confirmation or password input is still required.
File concierge introduces a brand-new local knowledge base feature that enables autonomous discovery, creation, update, and collaboration. Marvis builds this capability through its exclusive knowledge base indexing, actively sensing local and cloud files, and autonomously understanding and tagging them into a knowledge base. It has already integrated Tencent Docs and will soon integrate WeChat Work documents. When adding new materials, it can prompt users to join the knowledge base, continuously accumulating personal knowledge. Users can both ask questions, summarize, and collaboratively maintain and edit content. From one-time organization to continuous updates, files have become a knowledge asset that can be continuously accessed and maintained.
Software concierge positions itself as a "software and game assistant." It can provide installation, updates, and management of applications, covering PC software, games, and Android apps that can run on computers. Leveraging partnerships with Microsoft, Intel, and Qualcomm at the system and hardware level, it offers performance diagnostics and optimization for gaming scenarios, enabling one-click optimization of frame rates, latency, and loading speed; it can also assist in checking and claiming redeem codes and limited-time free games, automatically managing daily resources and tasks, and offering strategies when stuck on levels. Additionally, things like price comparisons, travel route planning, and monthly summaries can be handled by it through corresponding software. Marvis software services have expanded from helping users install software to using it effectively.
Browsers concierge connects users' local browsers via browser plugins, retains existing login states on web pages, and uses professional workflows to complete information search, resource download, and web form filling, linking web operations with computer, file, and software services.
In late October, Marvis will also open user-built concierge capabilities, allowing users to directly describe their desired concierge using natural language, and configure skills, tools, and MCPs within Marvis to generate them all in one place. This feature will be launched in November.
Cai Jiantao, head of Tencent App Store cross-end business and Marvis, stated at the briefing that AI is driving services from application distribution to direct access: as AI capabilities develop, after users express their needs, AI can connect to professional services and execute them. Marvis chose the "concierge" positioning, which originates from users' usage habits and the team's product path starting from hardware, aiming to let ordinary people use devices more naturally.
From managing one computer to connecting more personal devices
The new positioning of "AI Concierge" also determines Marvis's cross-device direction: photos, videos, and data are scattered across computers, phones, NAS, etc., and the concierge needs to connect these devices, making personal assets easier to find, access, and use.
Regarding the hardware ecosystem, Marvis revealed multiple lines of collaborative progress: On the PC side, it launched the Marvis OEM version, deeply integrating with original equipment manufacturers through pre-installation and plugins; at the chip level, it collaborated with Intel and Qualcomm, leveraging Intel OpenVINO and other inference frameworks for edge-side performance optimization; in the information technology innovation sector, it is about to launch custom versions for麒麟 and Unified Linux, providing application and device management capabilities for government and enterprise users.
In the NAS scenario, it is planned to go live in October. The team demonstrated an AI-customized version jointly developed with Intel and Feiniu, where video knowledge bases can build indexes based on visuals, sounds, and subtitles. Users can find video clips using clues like "dog," "sea," or "applause." Combining cross-end remote control and local processing, NAS transforms from a storage tool into an AI data concierge that can retrieve and process personal content.
