The topic "Doubao employees lament that Doubao has become an edge product" topped the Weibo hot search on September 24. Previously, media reports mentioned a reduction in personnel in the general Session team of Doubao. Online, rumors such as "Doubao layoff" and "the conversation team cut in half" emerged, with some internal employees allegedly lamenting that "Doubao is being marginalized."
Liuxing, the public relations officer of Doubao, responded by stating that the relevant reports were actually organizational adjustments within the Doubao Session team. Some self-media outlets interpreted it as layoffs, which was inaccurate. He explained that part of the team's functions had been transferred to the Doubao transaction and Doubao work teams, with the relevant personnel moving accordingly. Many employees continued to work on conversation experience-related tasks; the team has less than 50 people, and this division adjustment involved 11 people, three of whom left. Regarding statements like "Doubao layoff used by 200 million people," he reiterated that they were false.
This response shows that with the intensive advancement of domestic AI applications and business line reorganization, organizational restructuring has entered a high-frequency period, making it easy for such changes to be exaggerated as signals of layoffs. It has become a common practice for manufacturers to publicly clarify such situations as part of industry public opinion management.
