On October 7, Musk released an important statement on the X platform about the underlying logic of Grok Bot: this always-on AI colleague will no longer rely solely on SpaceXAI's self-developed Grok series, but will instead automatically select the best backend model for each specific task.
He wrote that in the future, Grok Bot will call other leading APIs such as Claude Opus5.5, Midjourney, and Suno according to user tasks, with the system choosing based on the one most likely to provide the best result for the user. In terms of technical strategy, Grok Bot is shifting from being primarily focused on self-developed models to a multi-model hybrid architecture oriented toward tasks — whoever performs better in text, image, or audio tasks will be assigned, and third-party APIs will no longer be excluded.

This approach itself is very unique. Grok Bot is an always-on AI colleague launched by SpaceXAI in August 2026 as a beta version: it is not just a Q&A robot, but can log into your frequently used websites and applications on a cloud computer, perform multi-step tasks on its own, and only return to you for approval when human intervention is needed. Each Grok Bot has a name, role, and continuously accumulated context, so you can assign tasks to it through text, voice, or voice calls, just like sending messages to a colleague; it runs on a cloud computer with a browser, file system, and terminal, so even if you close your phone and computer, background and scheduled tasks will continue running on their own.
