At a Google Cloud event on Thursday, Google announced that it is bringing Gemini AI into the era of intelligent agents, launching a unified intelligent agent system that marks a leap from "answering questions" to "executing tasks on behalf of users."

Currently, Gemini has more than 1 billion monthly active users, and nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 companies have adopted Gemini Enterprise. Considering the high demands of enterprise scenarios for security, scalability, and performance, Google chose to first implement this intelligent agent service in the enterprise sector before expanding to the consumer market.

The new system features goal-oriented planning capabilities, supports custom skills and tools, and can deeply connect with enterprise internal data and systems such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and Jira, while securely compatible with various model context protocol (MCP) servers inside and outside the network. The system defaults to matching the best model and also provides options for third-party and open-source models including Anthropic Claude.

A notable breakthrough is that this AI agent has its own workspace account and email address, allowing it to integrate into team collaboration and process approvals as a "digital colleague." Currently, companies such as On, Shopify, and PayPal have participated in early testing.

Currently, generative AI is accelerating from a single dialogue interface to automated task execution. By fully integrating intelligent agents into the enterprise ecosystem, Google not only strengthens its competitive edge in the B-end market against major competitors like Microsoft, but also marks the official entry of enterprise-level AI applications into a new stage of advanced autonomy and human-machine collaboration.
