Google announced on Wednesday that the Chrome browser will roll out an advanced AI autofill feature that can read information from users' Gmail messages to generate more accurate suggestions for filling out online forms. The feature can reference email content to automatically suggest key data such as flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, shipment tracking information, order numbers, addresses, phone numbers, or credit card numbers.

This move is a further extension of Google's personal intelligence capabilities. Previously, users could connect Google apps to the Gemini assistant to look up details and answer complex questions. This update embeds similar capabilities directly into the browser, improving everyday form-filling efficiency and encouraging users to stay within Chrome and Google's AI ecosystem. Its experience is similar to Apple's feature that automatically recognizes SMS verification codes and prompts users to enter them.
Users can choose in Chrome settings whether to enable enhanced autofill. Google emphasizes that sensitive data will be encrypted. The feature is currently rolling out gradually to desktop users in the U.S., as well as the Gemini iOS and Android apps in the Chrome browser.
As generative AI rapidly permeates core browser scenarios, Google is deepening the integration of email and search data to strengthen Chrome's intelligent experience and further consolidate its competitive advantage in the AI-driven browser field.
