Today, the same user often bounces between multiple AI apps at once. Files end up scattered, progress is hard to resume, and every time you switch tools you have to explain the context all over again. That fragmentation has become a new pain point. On October 29, Tencent Drive officially opened its beta application portal. Users can go straight to the official website (drive.tencent.com) to apply, as Tencent tries to use a "universal storage foundation" to reconnect a fragmented AI experience.

One Drive Connects the Whole Suite

In Tencent's vision, the drive is no longer just a warehouse. Instead, it lets data outputs from all AI apps in the ecosystem settle there and gradually build into long-term memory assets that belong to the user. Its capabilities are split into four parts: On storage, assets produced by the suite are saved to the drive in one place, ready for WorkBuddy to retrieve at any time. On connectivity, office tools such as WeCom and Tencent Meeting are fully connected with mainstream AI, so switching devices or models lets you pick up where you left off. On intelligence, built-in capabilities from the same source as WorkBuddy automatically categorize and extract key points, saving you from last-minute searching. On security, backed by Tencent Cloud, the entire data flow is protected, and agents can only access data within authorized boundaries.

Bundled Into Membership to Stake a Claim in Personal AI Assets

The bigger ambition is on the business side: Tencent Drive has already been folded directly into WorkBuddy membership, with no separate fee. One activation gets you storage, organization, and AI access all at once. For individual users, that's like bundling cloud space and an AI assistant into a single subscription. At a time when major apps are racing to accumulate user assets, Tencent clearly wants to use its drive to secure the gateway to the "personal AI data center," so cross-tool workflows no longer lose their memory when you switch.
