Today, rumors circulated that Wu Tian, Vice President of Baidu Group and Deputy Director of Baidu Research, had left the company. A Baidu PR manager responded on WeChat Moments that Wu Tian had ended her tenure at Baidu, while emphasizing that Baidu's technical work is still moving forward.
Baidu said that just two days earlier, on Oct. 27, it released and open-sourced Wenxin Unlimited OCR2, achieving the world's first document parsing for documents of any page count, pushing the OCR processing limit from dozens of pages to "unlimited" and reaching the current state of the art. Tests showed that the model can parse all seven Harry Potter books in one pass, totaling more than 3,600 pages, while maintaining relatively high accuracy and processing efficiency even as document length increases substantially, driving document parsing technology into the OCR 3.0 era.
It is reported that Wu Tian stopped serving as head of the foundation model R&D department in May this year and later became Deputy Director of Baidu Research. Related work in the foundation model area is also continuing. A person close to Baidu said that new progress on the Wenxin model will be announced next week.
Against the backdrop of continuous iteration in large models and document intelligence, Baidu is maintaining its R&D pace through open source and technological breakthroughs, and the executive adjustment has not affected the progress of its core products.
