On November 4, OpenAI, the artificial intelligence giant, officially announced that it has hired Jill Hazelbaker, former President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Uber Technologies, to join the company as its new Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. This key position had been vacant for nearly a year. This major appointment marks that OpenAI is further strengthening the strategic buildout of its executive team as it navigates a complex global political environment and moves full speed toward an initial public offering (IPO).
Regarding the specific organizational structure and responsibilities, OpenAI revealed that after joining, Hazelbaker will report directly to co-founder and President Greg Brockman and is scheduled to officially start in early December. She will work closely with the company’s leadership, with her core mission being to “deepen public understanding of artificial intelligence and strengthen public trust in its mission.” As the company’s business scale and social influence expand rapidly, how to properly address increasingly complex regulatory and public opinion challenges at home and abroad will become the core test she faces after taking office.
