Recently, the French artificial intelligence laboratory Mistral announced a series of new feature upgrades for its chatbot Le Chat, further enhancing its competitiveness against industry giants such as OpenAI and Google. The highlights of this update include a "Deep Research" mode, native multilingual reasoning, and advanced image editing capabilities, aiming to provide users with a smarter assistant experience.

Mistral's "Deep Research" mode can be regarded as a comprehensive research assistant, capable of planning, clarifying requirements, searching, and synthesizing data. Elisa Salamanca, Product Director at Mistral, stated that this feature can search widely online to answer specific user questions. This function is particularly useful for personal users in travel planning and for enterprise users conducting in-depth research.

Different from other cloud-based AI platforms, Mistral pays special attention to handling sensitive data for enterprise clients. Salamanca mentioned that many companies are unwilling to upload their data to the cloud, especially in industries such as banking, defense, and government. Therefore, Le Chat can connect directly with internal enterprise data, allowing users to perform data analysis using deep reasoning capabilities within a local environment without worrying about information security.

In addition to the Deep Research mode, Le Chat has added multiple features that enhance multilingual reasoning capabilities. It now supports reasoning in multiple languages such as French, Spanish, and Japanese, and even allows switching between languages within a sentence. Furthermore, Mistral introduced a "Project" feature, helping users organize chat records, documents, and ideas into focused spaces, facilitating project management.

More excitingly, Le Chat has improved its image editing capabilities, allowing users to easily create and edit images with simple commands, such as "remove this object" or "put me in another city." The introduction of these new features has significantly increased Mistral's competitiveness in the AI field, making Le Chat not just a model demonstration, but a powerful all-in-one assistant.
