Baidu recently announced the establishment of two new large model R&D departments, aiming to strengthen its technical capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence. The Basic Model R&D Department will focus on developing high-intelligence, scalable general AI large models, led by Wu Tian; while the Application Model R&D Department will focus on specialized model optimization and exploration for business application scenarios, led by Jia Lei. Both departments will report directly to Baidu's CEO, Li Yanhong, indicating the company's high emphasis on large model R&D.
