According to the latest report, Amazon has issued a memo internally advising engineers to prioritize using its in-house AI tool Kiro over third-party AI coding services when programming. The memo was published on the company's internal news platform and has been confirmed by an Amazon spokesperson.

The memo states that while Amazon will continue to support third-party tools already in use, it will no longer expand support for new external AI development services. This means third-party AI tools such as OpenAI's Codex, Anthropic's Claude Code, and the startup Cursor will be excluded. Although Amazon has invested approximately $8 billion in Anthropic and has signed a multi-year cloud service agreement with OpenAI, the company is accelerating the development of its own AI technology.

Amazon said that employees can actively provide feedback while using Kiro, helping the company continuously improve the tool. This move reflects Amazon's emphasis on self-developed technology and also shows its determination to build a more solid foundation in the field of AI programming.

In today's rapidly developing AI technology landscape, Amazon's decision to strengthen its own tools aims to improve efficiency and maintain control over the development process. By promoting Kiro, Amazon may hope to provide engineers with a safer and more efficient programming environment, thereby further increasing the speed and quality of product development.
