According to the latest information provided by insiders to AIbase, the AI startup Resolve AI, which focuses on developing autonomous Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) tools, has successfully completed its Series A funding round. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, marking an important step for the company, which was founded less than two years ago, in the field of AI operations and maintenance.

Unique Funding Structure and Valuation

It is reported that Resolve AI achieved a nominal valuation of 1 billion dollars in this funding round. However, due to the "multi-stage funding structure" that has become popular among top AI startups recently, its actual comprehensive valuation is slightly lower than this figure. In this structure, investors purchase a small portion of equity at a valuation of 1 billion dollars, while the majority of the shares are purchased at a lower price.

Currently, Resolve AI's annual recurring revenue (ARR) is approximately 4 million dollars. Although the exact funding amount has not been disclosed, the company previously completed a 35 million dollar seed funding round led by Greylock, with participation from Li Fei-fei (founder of World Labs) and Jeff Dean (scientist at Google DeepMind) in October of last year.

Core Technology: Redefining System Operations

Resolve AI's core product is an autonomous SRE tool that can automatically maintain software systems. Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual troubleshooting, Resolve AI can autonomously identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in production environments in real time.

With the increasing complexity of cloud-native infrastructure, skilled SRE engineers have become a scarce resource. Resolve AI's automation solution aims to:

  • Reduce costs: Reduce reliance on large-scale manual operations teams.

  • Improve efficiency: Shorten system downtime.

  • Free up productivity: Allow engineering teams to focus on core function development instead of dealing with routine troubleshooting.

Elite Founding Team

The company was co-founded by two former executives from Splunk: CEO Spiros Xanthos and Chief Architect Mayank Agarwal. Their collaboration dates back to their graduate school days over 20 years ago, and they previously co-founded the observability startup Omnition (later acquired by Splunk).

In the competitive market, Resolve AI is competing with rivals such as Traversal, which recently completed a 48 million dollar Series A funding round led by Kleiner Perkins. Currently, neither Resolve AI nor Lightspeed has made any official comments on the details of this funding round.
