Customer Uses AI to Forge Medical Records for Extortion, Multiple Stores Suffered Before Being Brought to Justice
The Yangpu District People's Court in Shanghai recently handled a case involving the use of AI technology for blackmail. The defendant, Yang, used AI to forge hospital diagnostic certificates and fee receipts, and claimed that he fell ill after dining at a barbecue restaurant, demanding 2000 yuan in compensation. After the store paid, they reported the incident to the police, and the court announced the verdict on the spot. This case warns that AI technology can be abused as a tool for crimes.
