The non-profit organization Digital Promise recently announced the launch of its "Responsible Design AI Product Certification" program. This initiative aims to assist school leaders in selecting AI-powered educational technology tools that meet student learning and safety requirements. With the rapid growth of AI in education, schools face an increasing number of choices, making the selection of safe and effective tools a critical challenge. The certification program specifically assesses several key aspects of AI educational tools, including data security and fairness.

With the rapid growth of artificial intelligence tools and applications, education technology experts have created a visual aid to make the landscape of AI tools clearer and more understandable. Led by Edtech Insiders, this new generative AI map and database categorizes over 250 AI-powered tools into use cases for teaching and learning. The case categories on the map include teaching materials, assessment and feedback, teacher practice support, professional teacher learning, student support, and social tools. Each category has more specific use cases, such as curriculum planning.

Two recent reports indicate that U.S. students and university leaders rank second to last in global AI usage, just above the UK, with a usage rate at the bottom worldwide. Only 38% of U.S. students use AI monthly, and over 30% of university leaders are concerned about potential unethical behavior and plagiarism. Students are optimistic about AI's potential, especially in enhancing student engagement. Despite concerns, over 30% of university leaders believe that a deeper understanding of AI could improve the overall student experience.
