"If young people from Shanghai are willing to develop their careers in our company, we will be very welcome." At the Sixth Shanghai Innovation and Entrepreneurship Youth 50 Forum held recently, Wang Xingxing, founder and CEO of Unitree Robotics, publicly issued a "recruitment order," frankly stating that the company is currently experiencing an extreme shortage of various positions, including administrative, procurement, sales, technology, R&D, market, and more. He sincerely looks forward to welcoming more young talents to join.
Data shows that in 2024, the annual sales volume of Unitree's robotic dogs reached as high as 23,700 units, accounting for approximately 69.75% of the global market; at the same time, the company’s humanoid robot annual delivery volume exceeded 1,500 units, also setting a new global record. The technical capabilities and industrialization process are leading the way globally.
In his forum speech, Wang Xingxing shared why Unitree is firmly committed to the humanoid robot field. He mentioned that humanoid robots are the simplest form of general-purpose robots, with relatively lower hardware requirements. Once the technology matures, robots can even start executing tasks simply by keyword splicing and program downloading. Meanwhile, he emphasized that people are more likely to accept robots that resemble humans, which not only brings emotional value but also makes data collection and AI training more efficient. Today's large models and video models are data-driven, and human-collected data is naturally better suited for humanoid robots. Moreover, humanoid robots can undertake diverse tasks in practical applications, truly releasing manpower and helping humans free up their hands.
Wang Xingxing pointed out that the biggest challenge in the current robotics industry does not lie in hardware but in the "end-to-end integration" capability of artificial intelligence, which has yet to mature. He stated that whoever can truly build a unified and powerful AI system may become the strongest robotics company or even AI company globally, and this is also the most closely watched technological direction in the global tech industry.
He also mentioned that Unitree Technology has already established a branch in Shanghai and plans to deepen its cooperation with the city in the future. He reviewed his entrepreneurial journey, saying that the quadruped robot XDog he developed during his postgraduate studies at Shanghai University won him his first entrepreneurial success. The open and inclusive innovation and entrepreneurship atmosphere in Shanghai provided young people with valuable opportunities for trial and error and resource support, making it a fertile ground for nurturing tech startups.
"AI is an opportunity for young people," Wang Xingxing candidly admitted. Compared to ten years ago, the social environment, capital market, and public attention have undergone tremendous changes. He encouraged more young people to actively engage in the AI and robotics industries, seize the era's dividends, and change the world through technology. He also hoped that more resources could flow through platforms like forums to further support the younger generation in realizing their dreams in the tide of technology.
