Hey folks, today I'm bringing you a hardcore black tech innovation called PaintsUndo. Just with a single image, PaintsUndo can turn it into a complete painting process video. This technology is just amazing.

Have you ever thought that a static image could also become a painting tutorial? That's exactly what PaintsUndo does. You just need to provide an image, whether it's landscape, portrait, or abstract art, PaintsUndo can automatically generate a full video of the painting process for the image. It can even create videos with various styles and levels of detail, satisfying all your needs at once.

Don't worry if you only have a sketch. PaintsUndo can also generate detailed painting process videos based on your sketch, from sketch extraction to finished painting, all done, making it an excellent assistant for digital artists.

The core technology behind PaintsUndo is a series of AI-based models that can accept image inputs and output a sequence of paintings. Every step is shown in detail, from preliminary sketches to the final work, including line drawing, coloring, shadow processing, and more. Even better, it can make creative adjustments to make the painting process look more like a human artist is operating.

The inspiration for PaintsUndo comes from the "Undo" function in digital painting software, like continuously pressing Ctrl+Z to rewind the painting process. The goal of this project is to make future AI models more closely meet the actual needs of human artists and promote the development of digital painting technology.

PaintsUndo's main features include:

  • Automatically generate painting process videos: Detailedly show every step from a blank canvas to the final product.

  • Support single-frame and multi-frame operations: Users can choose different stages of art works to generate.

  • Highly customized user input: Such as the number of undo steps, users can control the content shown in the video.

This project includes two core models: single-frame model and multi-frame model. The single-frame model acts like a time machine, telling it how many steps to rewind, and it will display the scene at that moment; the multi-frame model acts like an animator, responsible for filling in the process between key frames. Together, they generate a complete creative process video.

However, be aware that PaintsUndo, although quite impressive, requires a high computer configuration (at least 10GB of VRAM), and processing a single image may take about 5 to 10 minutes, resulting in a final video of about 25 seconds. If your computer configuration is not high, it is recommended not to try local deployment easily.
