OpenAI has officially announced the rollout of an advanced voice mode to a select group of ChatGPT Plus users. This advanced voice mode offers more natural and real-time conversational experiences, allowing users to interrupt at any time and respond to the emotions of the speaker.

Users in this Alpha version will receive an email in their mobile app with instructions and messages. Currently, users who have been granted test permissions will receive an email from OpenAI.

The official plans to gradually add more users and aims to make the feature accessible to everyone on Plus by the fall. Additionally, OpenAI has revealed that video and screen-sharing capabilities will also be introduced.

It is understood that OpenAI has tested the voice capabilities of GPT-4o with over 100 external red team members in 45 languages. To protect users' privacy, the model has been trained to speak only with four preset voices and a system has been built to prevent outputs that do not match these voices.

OpenAI also plans to share a detailed report on the capabilities, limitations, and safety assessment of GPT-4o in early August.
