In the increasingly competitive landscape of the artificial intelligence sector, Apple is conducting internal testing on its self-developed AI chatbot and has achieved significant technical breakthroughs. According to a recent report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, under the leadership of the new AI head John Giannandrea, Apple has carried out in-depth research and development on this chatbot over the past six months. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Apple's executives are optimistic about the current version of the chatbot, believing its performance already rivals that of OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Gianandrea had previously expressed reservations about Apple's AI progress, but some senior executives within the company clearly have high hopes for transforming Siri into a true competitor to ChatGPT. They have begun discussing endowing this voice assistant with more capabilities, including accessing open networks, grabbing and integrating multiple data sources, which will greatly enhance its intelligence and practicality.
Despite the significant progress made in internal testing, Apple’s large language model technology and chatbot functions have yet to be integrated into any publicly available products. This has generated anticipation among the market regarding the future performance of Siri, especially as more and more rumors about "Siri 2.0" emerge. Gurman pointed out that Apple does not plan to announce major updates to Siri at the upcoming WWDC2025 developer conference, with the expectation that Siri equipped with new technologies will debut in the later stages of iOS 19.
Although Apple's exploration in the AI field is still in its early stages, the company's determination and technological advancements undoubtedly lay a solid foundation for the future development of intelligent assistants.
