According to the latest news, Grammarly has recently launched a series of AI writing assistants designed specifically for students and educators. These new tools aim to help students better tackle writing challenges, including evaluating paper quality, generating citations, and checking for plagiarism. These AI assistants are available in Grammarly's new "AI-native writing platform," and users can access them for free in both Grammarly Free and Pro versions without any additional cost.
Jenny Maxwell, Grammarly's Education Director, said: "Students today need AI tools that enhance their abilities rather than undermine their learning." She pointed out that these newly launched AI assistants can serve as students' "true partners," guiding them to create better work while developing essential real skills for their careers. By helping students learn how to use AI effectively, Grammarly hopes to prepare them for future workplaces.
One of the most notable tools is the AI Grading Assistant. This assistant provides personalized writing suggestions based on uploaded course information and public teacher information, and estimates paper scores. This feature will help students improve their papers before submission. In addition, students can also use other AI assistants to enhance their writing skills, including an assistant that predicts reader reactions, a proofreading assistant that offers line-by-line suggestions, and a rewriting assistant that adjusts content according to specific tones and styles.
To help students handle citations and reference sources, Grammarly has also launched a citation finder assistant that automatically generates correctly formatted citations to support arguments in papers. There is also an expert review assistant that provides personalized topic feedback.
In addition to tools for students, Grammarly has introduced two tools to help educators evaluate papers. One is the plagiarism checker, which scans large databases, academic papers, websites, and published works to detect similarities in writing submissions. The other is an AI detection assistant that provides a score indicating whether the text was written by a human or generated by AI.
Currently, the plagiarism detection and AI detection features among these AI assistants are only available to Grammarly Pro users. Grammarly stated that all newly launched AI assistants will be available to enterprise and educational users later this year and plans to announce more new assistants in the future.
