On September 5, Moonshot AI released the new version Kimi K2-0905 model on its official Discord. According to the introduction, the new version focuses on improving programming capabilities, and also enhances creativity in writing. This is another important progress following the release of the world's first open-source trillion-parameter AI model Kimi K2 in July 2025.
However, the official clearly stated that K2-0905 still does not have the ability to think or visualize, mainly targeting code generation and text creation scenarios. Currently, the model is not open source and is only available to some users through an open Beta test invitation.
This iteration shows that Moonshot AI continues to promote the optimization of the Kimi series in vertical capabilities, especially enhancing the user experience for developer ecosystems and content creators.
