On October 8, the Kuaishou Security Center released a special governance notice regarding "AI-modified" videos, announcing that a total of 2,544 pieces of illegal content were handled in September. This governance focuses on inappropriate romantic associations or cross-time-space interactions between classic film characters such as those from "Journey to the West" and "Dream of the Red Chamber" and popular game characters, marking a comprehensive enhancement of platform compliance reviews for AI-generated derivative content.

In recent days, AI-generated videos featuring跨界 pairings such as the "Saint Dai CP" of Sun Wukong from the 1986 version of "Journey to the West" and Lin Daiyu from the 1987 version of "Dream of the Red Chamber" have gone viral online. However, their excessive entertainment, vulgarization, and some derivative content containing indecent violence have also sparked concerns and controversies about their impact on teenagers' historical and cultural understanding.

This governance action aligns with regulatory requirements. The State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television had already deployed a special governance campaign against "AI-modified" videos by December 2025, clearly pointing out that cultural appropriation and alterations based on the Four Great Classical Novels could lead to misidentification of cultural symbols and challenge cultural identity. In addition to deviating from cultural inheritance and spiritual core, AI derivative works that directly use film materials, character images, and voices also face multiple legal compliance risks, including copyright, right of portrait, and protection of the integrity of the work.

As AI generation technology has significantly lowered the threshold for image creation, the "modified" phenomenon is unlikely to disappear in the short term. How to curb unbounded growth while protecting legitimate secondary creation, and promote governance towards refinement and standardization, has become a key issue for the healthy development of the AI-generated content (AIGC) industry.
