The Organizing Committee of the 2028 Los Angeles Summer and Paralympic Games recently announced that Google has officially become the official cloud service provider for this grand event and one of the founding partners of LA28. Google's powerful cloud infrastructure and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology will significantly enhance the audience's game experience.
According to the cooperation agreement, Google's Gemini large model and the new feature of its search engine "AI Mode" will provide audiences with a more convenient way to access game information. Especially during NBC Universal's multi-platform live broadcasts, audiences will be able to use these intelligent tools to keep track of the game dynamics in real time. This collaboration not only benefits the audience but also greatly improves the operational efficiency of LA28.
Kathy Wasserman, Chairman and President of LA28, said the goal of this collaboration is to create a technologically advanced, interactive, and digitally accessible Olympic event. Google's products will provide a smoother venue navigation experience for on-site audiences and update game-related information in real time, allowing every audience member to enjoy a better viewing experience.
Marvin Zhou, Vice President of Marketing at Google, also stated that this collaboration will make the Olympic experience more personalized and interactive. In addition, Mark Marshall, Head of Advertising Business at NBC Universal, added that the combination of Google's technology with NBCU's content will definitely create a "world-class" viewing experience for the audience. More notably, YouTube will serve as an extension platform for NBC Universal's game broadcasts, jointly launching selected game content.
The organizing committee revealed that Google's technology is expected to support millions of viewers, athletes, and over 70,000 volunteers and staff involved in LA28. With Google's participation, the sponsor list of LA28 continues to expand, and well-known brands such as Starbucks, Honda, Comcast, and Delta Air Lines have already joined. The organizing committee aims to sign new agreements worth between $800 million and $1 billion by 2025, with total sponsorship revenue expected to reach approximately $2 billion.
This will be the third time Los Angeles hosts the Summer Olympics and the first time it will host the Paralympics. LA28 promises to mainly use existing stadium facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event without building any permanent infrastructure. With Google's strong technical support, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is sure to become a unique sports event.
