The highly anticipated successor to the Arc browser, Dia, is now officially released on the macOS platform. This new application from the browser company integrates AI technology deeply into the browsing experience, aiming to change the way users interact with web content and daily tasks.

Dia's Core Features and Pricing

Dia requires a M1 chip or higher with macOS 14+ to run. It offers two service plans: a free plan and a Pro plan that costs $20 per month. The Pro plan includes a 14-day trial period and promises unlimited chat usage under the terms of use.

Even free users can experience Dia's core AI features:

  • Chat on any tab: Users can directly interact with the current web content using AI.

  • Create custom skills: Allows users to customize AI shortcuts based on their needs.

  • Mention tabs in any query: Enhances contextual relevance for AI queries.

  • Add attachments to any query: Supports adding files to AI requests.

  • Personalize Dia with memory: Dia can use its memory feature to provide more personalized responses as it is used over time.

The "Skills" System: Integrating User-Created Shortcuts with Built-In Ones

A major feature of Dia is its **"Skills"** system. These "skills" are a combination of user-created shortcuts and built-in internal shortcuts, specifically designed for daily AI tasks, covering areas such as planning, learning, writing, and coding.

Currently emphasized skills include summarizing, fact-checking, browsing history analysis, overviews, and productivity planning.

In addition, Dia has introduced features and skills specifically designed for students, such as the "Study Buddy" feature, which helps students convert notes, lectures, and reading materials into flashcards, quizzes, and custom study guides, greatly improving learning efficiency.

Regarding common criticisms about switching from Arc to Dia, Josh Miller, the CEO of the browser company, stated that in addition to the "CMD-S" shortcut, more popular Arc applications will be redesigned for Dia.

Miller said that after the official release, the company will resume its weekly update schedule and emphasized that there are three new features set to be launched in the coming weeks.
