Under the growing momentum in the artificial intelligence field, Beijing State Capital has once again taken action to support Mingshi Intelligence in its new round of financing. Since the release of the "Opinions on Deeply Implementing the 'Artificial Intelligence +' Action" by the State Council in August this year, the first publicly disclosed investment in the domestic edge-side large model sector has come to light. Mingshi Intelligence's financing amount reached hundreds of millions of yuan, participated by Beijing municipal state-owned investment platform "Jingguorui" and venture capital fund "Mijuhuji", with the funds mainly used to enhance the research and development and commercialization of edge-side large models.
Differing from the industry's general pursuit of a "large scale, high performance" development path, Mingshi Intelligence has chosen a unique technical direction, emphasizing the improvement of "knowledge density." This means they aim to achieve stronger intelligent performance with fewer parameters. This innovative concept enables their edge-side large models to run effectively on resource-limited devices, including mobile phones, cars, smart homes, and other areas.
Mingshi Intelligence was established in 2022, with its core team coming from the Natural Language Processing Lab at Tsinghua University, boasting a strong technical background. The new CEO, Li Dahuai, previously worked at Zhihu, while the Chief Scientist, Liu Zhiyuan, is an associate professor at Tsinghua University. Their goal is to apply artificial intelligence technology to real products and drive industry progress.
Mingshi Intelligence has already achieved large-scale deployment in multiple fields such as automobiles, mobile phones, PCs, and smart homes. It has reached deep cooperation with well-known enterprises such as Geely, Changan, Volkswagen, and Huawei. Its efficient edge-side model, MiniCPM, has attracted significant attention. For example, Geely has equipped its new flagship SUV, the Galaxy M9, with Mingshi Intelligence's VLA multimodal model, greatly enhancing the user experience in human-vehicle interaction.
Additionally, deploying AI models on terminal devices can significantly reduce response latency and effectively protect user data privacy. This strategy makes Mingshi Intelligence more secure in intelligent applications in sensitive fields such as healthcare and finance. With increasing policy support and market demand, Mingshi Intelligence is expected to continue leading the trend in the edge-side AI field.
