Google Meet has officially launched the AI Makeup Filter feature, offering users a new experience to effortlessly showcase a polished look without actually applying makeup. This update enables Google Meet to directly compete with video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, which already support virtual makeup effects.

According to the introduction, Google Meet has added 12 makeup styles. Users can find them under the "Appearance" (Appearance) section in the "Portrait Touch-Up" (Portrait Touch-Up) option. This feature was initially introduced in 2023 with basic beauty functions such as skin smoothing, dark circle reduction, and eye whitening. The latest makeup filters extend AI technology further to simulate full makeup application.

Google stated that this AI filter precisely adheres to the face when the user moves, ensuring the makeup remains stable on the face whether the user turns their head, speaks, or drinks coffee, resulting in a more natural visual effect without the awkward issue of the filter "drifting."

The feature is disabled by default, and users can enable it before a meeting or during a meeting. The system will automatically remember the last makeup settings for convenient use next time.

Currently, the AI makeup filter has been gradually rolled out on the mobile and web versions of Google Meet since October 8th and is expected to be available to all users in the coming weeks.
