Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft's AI division, recently announced that Microsoft will form a new team focused on developing "humanistic superintelligence" AI. This new type of AI will be human-centered, aiming to serve humans rather than replace them or become highly autonomous. Suleyman emphasized in his blog that this superintelligence will be carefully set with boundaries and strictly regulated to ensure humans remain at the top of the technological development "food chain."

This year, Suleyman officially joined Microsoft AI and became its CEO. Microsoft has recently launched several of its self-developed large models, covering areas such as text, voice, and image generation. He specifically pointed out that the new team will not participate in the "general artificial intelligence competition," but will focus on controllable AI development. According to the new agreement between Microsoft and OpenAI, Microsoft has the right to independently advance general artificial intelligence (AGI) and can collaborate with third parties to share OpenAI's intellectual property.
Suleyman also mentioned that this humanistic superintelligence will focus on three core scenarios: first, it will serve as an assistant partner for learning and action, helping people improve productivity; second, it will empower the field of healthcare and wellness; finally, it will promote breakthroughs in scientific fields such as clean energy. In his blog, he reiterated, "At Microsoft AI, we believe humans are more important than artificial intelligence." This philosophy clarifies the core value of humanistic superintelligence, which is to keep humans at the center, rather than being dominated by technology.
Externally, it is generally believed that as competition between Microsoft and OpenAI around AGI intensifies, Microsoft's new strategy aims to emphasize the controllability of AI and its commitment to human well-being.
