The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, together with six other departments, recently issued the "Several Measures for Promoting High-quality Development of the Medical Device Industry in Beijing." The aim is to comprehensively promote the upgrading of the medical device industry through data element circulation and AI large model empowerment. The core measures of the policy focus on the construction of data infrastructure and the development of industry-specific large models.
The measures propose accelerating the construction of high-quality data sets in the healthcare industry and improving related data circulation policies to promote the safe and compliant application of data, responding to the needs of medical device manufacturing enterprises and scientific research institutions; at the same time, the policy clearly supports enterprises in building data governance service platforms within the pilot areas of the data basic system, and provides support for platforms that meet certain service capabilities.
To encourage technological innovation and cross-industry collaboration, Beijing will provide substantial incentives for the development of industry-specific large models: it encourages medical device companies to jointly develop and deploy industry-specific large models with AI large model companies. For projects that reach domestic first-class or international leading levels, Beijing will provide financial support based on their computing power costs, with a maximum of no more than 30 million yuan.
This move demonstrates Beijing's determination to seize the high ground in the high-end development of the medical device industry by leveraging cutting-edge technologies, particularly generative AI and data elements.
