Microsoft is actively integrating its AI assistant Copilot into other technology products beyond its custom laptop series. Now, some LG smart TV users have found that the Copilot app has quietly appeared on their devices and is uninstallable.

According to Engadget, a large number of users have reported on Reddit in recent days that the Copilot app suddenly appeared on their LG smart TVs. Engadget staff found the app on the 2022 LG OLED and 2023 UA8000 models and confirmed that it is unremovable, but can be hidden from the main screen.

Notably, another member of the Engadget team who owns a 2022 LG OLED model did not find the app, indicating that the appearance of Copilot may depend on the permissions and privacy settings set by users on LG devices.

Although LG had stated at the 2025 CES that it would incorporate Copilot-powered AI search functionality in its next-generation TV models, this practice of introducing an AI app without user consent and permanently embedding it is sure to cause strong consumer dissatisfaction.
