Nvidia has further expanded its efforts in the open-source AI field, announcing the acquisition of SchedMD and the release of the new open AI model series Nemotron 3. These initiatives demonstrate that Nvidia is committed to promoting open-source technology to support innovation in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence.

SchedMD is the main developer of the well-known open-source workload management system Slurm. Since its launch in 2002, Slurm has become an important tool in high-performance computing and AI. Founded in 2010 by Morris Jette and Danny Auble, the main developers of Slurm, SchedMD is currently led by Auble as CEO. Nvidia stated that despite acquiring SchedMD, the company will continue to operate Slurm as open-source and neutral software, without changing its open principles.

Nvidia also released the Nemotron 3 series of open AI models, which are considered the optimal models for building efficient AI agents. The Nemotron 3 series includes three versions: Nemotron 3 Nano, a small model suitable for specific tasks; Nemotron 3 Super, designed for multi-AI agent applications; and Nemotron 3 Ultra, an advanced model intended for more complex tasks. Huang Renxun, founder and CEO of Nvidia, stated at the event that open innovation is the foundation of AI progress, and the Nemotron series will provide developers with transparency and efficiency to build intelligent systems at scale.

Additionally, Nvidia recently launched a new open-source reasoning vision-language model, Alpamayo-R1, focusing on autonomous driving research. At the same time, the company also released more workflows and guides to help developers better utilize its Cosmos world model, which are open-sourced under a permissive license, aiming to support the development of physical AI.

This series of measures reflects Nvidia's confidence in the future of physical AI, with the goal of becoming the preferred supplier of AI and software solutions for numerous robotics and autonomous driving companies.
